Is there any way for Admin to edit messages sent by other users? Before this functionality existed but it seems to have been removed.

This features misused a lot. Some users find it uncomfortable. So i did not migrate this feature in new version.

Let me know the use case this feature for you so that i have an idea of usages. So that if there any valid use case i can add this feature in new version.

My site works like Airbnb messaging. Users can send private messages but should not exchange personal contact details until they agree on a deal/price. So I have been checking messages that are sent and editing them to remove any telephone numbers, email addresses etc. It is better in this case because now I have to delete the entire message which causes confusion.

    I see.
You can use some regex to automatically remove phone numbers, email address (not always works).
I will add this feature in next version.

This would be great, however, there comes a point where the users do need to exchange personal details. This is the point where the deal is agreed. So an automatic system would not work as would be permanently on right?
At present there is a standard £deal agreed” message which is sent via the “All Messages” extension. After this message is accepted the users can exchange contact details.

Hi, further to this, would it be possible to have an option where the subscriber role cannot enter telephone numbers, email addresses etc in a message, but all other roles are unrestricted?

You can use some regex to do that but it does not always works. Users can change their mobile no or email a little to bypass this.

Yes, I appreciate there are ways to beat this system. However, after posting an email address the user could receive a message, also sent to Admin, stating that further attempts to post such details would result in an account freeze. Anyway, it is beyond my level of expertise. If this is something you could do as a paid modification I would be interested.
