Other plugins email will not mixed up with this plugin’s email piping because this plugin use a unique KEY to separate emails.

This plugin is developer friendly. There are many ways to do this without changing code plugin code.
If you have php knowledge please have a look at front-end-pm-pro/includes/class-fep-form.php. You can use fep_form_fields filter hook to change type or fep_form_field_output_message_to action hook to change output.

Maybe i did not understand you properly.
How this plugin will understand who is partner and who is client? Is there any separate role for them? How will you specify who can communicate to whom?May be some of your theme css override this plugin css. So if this code works for you then it is ok to change.

Can you please check Dashboard > Front End PM > Settings > Recipient and see if “Can users send message to other users.” checked?
