Ok, so here is the situation, and not sure you’ll be able to help but still wanted to ask.

So the theme has set a mobile menu but I really don’t like it, so I’m using a plugin called Responsive Menu which works great for creating responsive menus on all the mobile devices. And being a little clever, I just created a completely new menu in the Appearance>>Menu area and just didn’t assign it a location. That menu is working perfectly with the Responsive Menu plugin. Because of this setup, I have the menu ID number for the menu, but don’t have a theme_location as this is separate from the theme.

Is it possible to to use a menu ID instead of theme_location?
    Thanks

Thanks, that’s what i’ve done. I think our path to PHP is just wrong though. Wish me luck 🙂

Is there no way around this? I’m currently looking at email filtering to forward the messages to a shell user, and then forward to the PHP file using a .forward file. Hopefully this will work.

    Hello,

I just wanted to clarify something you said in your last message, because I didn’t interpret it the same way you wrote it. I have just recently renewed my single site licence because I received an email and in the plugin settings it said the licence was about to expire. I don’t mind renewing it as you have created something useful for me.

However, I just wanted to be clear, if I didn’t renew my licence, the plugin would still work fine AND, I would still receive updates along with my other plugin updates when I update them all through WordPress?

    Thanks

    Hi Shamin,

    The filter worked perfectly, thanks.

However, there seems to be a bit of a bug I think. I have the messages displayed as threaded messages. I then send the first message to another user to create a new thread. If my message box is displaying the Inbox, and that user replies to my message in that new thread, the new unread message for me won’t display in the Inbox. As I started the thread it appears to think all messages in that thread came from me and therefore doesn’t display new ones in the Inbox.

And for the second part of the issue. One way to see that new message is to go to Show All. The message thread will display that there is a new message waiting, but it doesn’t move the thread to the top of the page. So if you have a lot of messsges, the only way to find unread messsges is to filer by Unread, which most users won’t always do and I also don’t think that should be the default filter either.

So new messages should always display in the Inbox, and new messages should always be moved to the top of the list regardless of the view.

Still very happy with the plugin, just wanted to share this with you, hope it made sense.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Oh, sorry.

What I meant was a better way to display attachments as part of the message. A way that doesn’t load a new blank page with just a picture. And if you go back to the attachment and click it again it displays an invalid token error. Basically, if pics were sent they would automatically load and be displayed along with the message.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Oh, and one other feature that would be nice,

A way for attachments to display in an email notification or at least display a note that says the message has an attachment so they will know to login and check it.

It’s great that with email piping you can include an attachment in the reply email and that goes to the recipient. Just a bit slow to have to keep logging in to see the attachments 🙂

    Just a thought.
    Thanks again,
    Chris

    Thanks Shamin,

And just in case anyone else had my issue with attachments showing up with placeholders in the media library, I just needed to regenerate the thumbnails and they appear fine now.

I’ll wait to hear back about the like breaks. And I’m sure you’ll come up with a clever way to display attachments in messages in future releases 🙂

Do you have another update planned anytime soon?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Quentin,

As the admin doesn’t seem available at the moment maybe I can help.

That isn’t a bug. That is suppose to appear and is part of the email piping feature. If you aren’t using that feature then turn it off and the message key will disappear. The message key is used so when you reply to an email notification the plugin knows how to link it to the original sender.

Hope that helps and good luck,
    Chris

    Hi Josh,

I have it working. It did take a little tinkering to get the path set correctly in my cpanel, but overall that feature currently works fine on my site,

And Ben is correct with all of his instructions.

However, based on your first question, the purpose of the feature is not so users can compose a blank email message in any email client to send to any user. The first message must come from within the FEP messaging portal on your site. When the recipient receives an email notification that there is a message waiting for them on your site, that’s the email they can reply to, to send a message back to the sender.

Hope that helps, and good luck.
    Chris
